Do your kiddos like to bowl?

Posted By wynter on Apr 19, 2009 at 8:46PM

If so, maybe you can take advantage of this. It's an offer for 2 free games every day for a family of four this summer at participating bowling alleys.

The closest places to us are too far away. :( Neat opportunity if it's available in your area though.

Clothes of the future

Posted By wynter on Jan 21, 2009 at 4:41PM

Designers in the 1930s were trying to predict what clothes would look like in 2000. :rotfl:

Hope you enjoy! ;)

Shame we don't have those belts that adapt our bodies to any climate. :)

Really cool video

Posted By wynter on Aug 8, 2008 at 9:08AM

Lightning is really pretty in slow motion. :-) I want one of those cameras now! lol We've had some crazy lightning here this summer (much more than usual) so it'd be cool to get some video like that of it.

Now I just need 3 more corgis...

Posted By wynter on Jun 19, 2008 at 11:16PM

How adorable is this video? Someone taught these corgis to do this for the Queen Mom's 100th birthday. I wonder how they did it?

 I shouldn't have watched it. It's 1 am and now Poppy is barking loudly! lol

My little loves...

Posted By wynter on May 14, 2008 at 6:31AM

I took a few pictures of Popcorn, Mara, and Bloo this morning - except Mara wasn't in the picture taking mood (neither was Poppy or Bloo really). I thought I'd share though. Popcorn turned 1 year last Saturday.

NOOOO :( I think I killed my laptop.

Posted By wynter on Apr 29, 2008 at 8:51AM

It was a bit chilly this morning, and I just couldn't get warm (probably had to do with Jason running the a/c last night since the house was so humid). I decided to make a cup of hot chocolate, and I went back to browsing on the internet. I spilled just a tiny, tiny bit on the number pad of the keyboard. I wiped it all away, and like I said, it was a tiny amount so I thought I had gotten it all.

About 10 minutes later, a blue screen pops up, the computer restarts, and now it's saying it can't find the operating system. :( I hope this doesn't cost a fortune to fix (and I hope it can be fixed - I like my laptop).

Things that go wrong while your hubby is away...

Posted By wynter on Mar 2, 2008 at 11:04PM

(AKA... I'm about ready to pull my hair out and run away.... )

1. The tv that was just purchased last year completely stops working. Of course this would happen 1 day after the warranty expired.
2. The toilet starts to overflow every time you flush it. (Did I mention Jake has had a stomach bug coming out of both ends this weekend so the toilet has been overflowing A LOT - he keeps flushing it. Oh - we only have one bathroom too!) Jake's also been through about 20 pair of underwear just today and no telling how many towels have been used to clean up because sometimes he can't make it to the bathroom in time.
3. We had a window break in a storm earlier this week (something hit it). Luckily, my dad was able to fix that one over the weekend. The toilet will have to be taken out and he can't do that until later. :(
4. One of my kitchen cabinet doors decided to fall off - no clue why! It's barely hanging on again thanks to my screwdriver abilities (can't find the drill to get it on there tight).
5. I had a tire blow out and had to replace two of them last weekend.
6. I think Brandon is feeling bad too because he has been throwing temper tantrums from HELL the last two days.
7. The operator lady keeps cutting us off before we get a chance to say goodbye. Our calls are limited to 20 minutes, she warns us at 15 minutes, and cuts us off 30 seconds later. :grr:
8. The boys together have lost like 7 teeth since he left. The tooth fairy is going broke and tired of staying up late to play toothfairy! lol
9. Grocery shopping with the kids means the bill will be twice as much as normal.
10. I had a girlie appointment on Friday, and I got a call on Saturday telling me I had inconclusive results on my PAP and needed to do it over again. Luckily this is not the first time it's happened and last time everything was A-OK!
11. Did I mention I'm also PMSing now too so the last two days worth of things have seemed a lot worse than they probably actually are.

The past two weeks have SUCKED! I want to sit down and cry, cry, cry. I've managed to get some of the stuff fixed, but the rest, I have no clue what to do about it. :(

I'm usually not this helpless - I promise. It's just been too much all at once.

Taking wytner's lead...another dancing dog video

Posted By BeachBarbie on Feb 21, 2008 at 10:53AM

I love this video. The dog in it looks exactly like our late Spumpkin..may she rest in peace. Anyway, on to the dancing dog....

Not sure if any of you are interested but...

Posted By wynter on Feb 20, 2008 at 9:18PM

Hubby's game has a contest out right now, and they're giving away prizes. :) Just thought I'd post in case any of you want to play. The game doesn't actually start until this summer, but they're releasing a lot of fun stuff now too since there's a good bit of interest in the game already.

20 worst foods in America

Posted By wynter on Feb 13, 2008 at 7:26PM

I've only had a couple of these, but gross! There is NO need for foods to have this many calories.

The Top 20 Worst Foods in America

20: Worst Fast-Food Chicken Meal - Chicken Selects Premium Breast
Strips from McDonald's (5 pieces) with cream ranch sauce. 830
Calories, 55 grams fat (4.5 trans fat), 48 carbs. Add a large fries
and regular soda and this seemingly innocuous chicken meal tops out
at 1,710 calories.

19: Worst drink - Jamba Juice Chocolate Moo'd Power Smoothie (30 fl
oz). 900 calories, 10 g fat, 183 carbs, 166 g sugar. Jamba Juice
calls it a smoothie, MSNBC calls it a milk shake. The beverage
contains as much sugar as 8 pints of Ben & Jerry's butter pecan ice

18: Worst supermarket meal - Pepperidge Farm Roasted Chicken Pot Pie
(whole pie). 1,020 calories, 64 g fat, 86 g carbs. Label may say this
pie serves two, but, who ever divided a small pot pie in half? Once
you crack the crust, there will be no stopping.

17: Worst 'healthy' burger - Ruby Tuesday Bella Turkey Burger. 1,145
calories, 71 g fat, 56 g carbs.

16: Worst Mexican entree - Chipotle Mexican Grill Chicken Burrito.
1,179 calories, 47 g fat, 125 g carbs, 2,656 mg sodium.

15: Worst kids' meal - Macaroni Grill Double Macaroni 'n' Cheese.
1,210 calories, 62 g fat, 3,450 mg sodium. It's like feeding your kid
1 1/2 boxes of Kraft mac 'n' cheese.

14: Worst sandwich - Quiznos Classic Italian (large). 1,528 calories,
92 g fat, 4,604 mg sodium, 110 g carbs. A large homemade sandwich
would more likely provided about 500 calories.

13: Worst salad - On the Border Grande Taco Salad with Taco Beef.
1,450 calories, 102 g fat, 78 g carbs, 2,410 mg sodium. This isn't an
anomaly: Five different On the Border salads on the menu contain more
than 1, 100 calories each.

12: Worst burger - Carl's Jr. (Hardee's on East Coast) Double Six Dollar Burger. 1,520
calories! , 111g fat. Carl's Jr. brags it's home to this enormous
sandwich, but the restaurant chain also provides convenient nutrition
info on its Web site -- so ignorance is no excuse for eating it.

11: Worst steak - Lonestar 20 oz T-bone. 1,540 calories, 124g fat.
Add a baked potato and Lonestar's Signature Lettuce Wedge, and this
is a 2,700 calorie blowout.

10: Worst breakfast - Bob Evans Caramel Banana Pecan Cream Stacked
and Stuffed hotcakes. 1,540 calories, 77 g fat (9 g trans fat), 198 g
carbs, 109 g sugar. Five Egg McMuffins yield the same caloric cost as
this stack of sugar-stuffed flapjacks, which is truly a heavy
breakfast, weighing in at a hefty pound and a half.

9: Worst dessert - Chili's Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie with Vanilla
Ice Cream. 1,600 calories, 78 g fat, 215 g carbs. Would you eat a Big
Mac for dessert? How about three? That's the calorie equivalent of
this decadent dish. Clearly, Chili's customers get their money's worth.

8: Worst chinese entree - P.F. Chang's Pork Lo Mein. 1,820 calories,
127 g fat,! 95 g carbs. The fat content in this dish alone provides
more than 1,100 calories. And you'd have to eat almost five servings
of pasta to match the number of carbs it contains. Now, do you really
need five servings of pasta?

7: Worst chicken entree - Chili's Honey Chipotle Crispers with
Chipotle Sauce. 2,040 calories, 99 g fat, 240 g carbs. "Crispers"
refers to an extra thick layer of break crumbs that soak up oil and
adds unnecessary calories and carbs to these glorified chicken strips.

6: Worst fish entree - On the Border Dos XX Fish Tacos with Rice and
Beans. 2,100 calories, 130 g fat, 169 g carbs, 4,700 mg sodium.
Perhaps the most misleadingly named dish in America : A dozen crunchy
tacos from Taco Bell will saddle you with fewer calories.

5: Worst pizza - Uno Chicago Grill Chicago Classic Deep Dish Pizza.
2,310 calories, 162 g fat, 123 g carbs, 4,470 mg sodium. Downing
this "personal" pizza is equivalent to eating 18 slices of Domino's
Crunchy Thin Crust cheese pizza.

4: Worst pasta - Macaroni Grill Spaghetti and Meatballs with Meat
Sauce. 2,430 calories, 128 g fat, 207 g carbs, 5,290 mg sodium. This
meal satisfied your calorie requirements for an entire day.

3: Worst nachos - On the Border Stacked Border Nachos. 2,740
calories, 166 g fat, 191 g carbs, 5,280 sodium.

2: Worst starter - Chili's Awesome Blossom. 2,710 calories, 203 g
fat, 194 g carbs, 6,360 mg sodium.

1: The worst food in America - Outback Steakhouse Aussie Cheese Fries
with Ranch Dressing. 2,900 calories, 182 g fat, 240 g carbs. Even if
you split these "starters" with three friends, you'll have downed a
dinner's worth of calories before you entree arrives
